Japan, Edo period (1603-1868)
Iron, lacquer, silk, wood
Kabuto of the suji-bachi type with eight lamellae; three-stage chiselled tehen; shikoro with three lacquered blades, lacquered iron mabizashi. Interior covered with fabric and orange lacquer. Orange silk trimmings (agemaki). Wooden maedate, gilded lacquered with mon.
Mempo in red-lacquered iron; the teeth are gold-lacquered and topped with a horsehair moustache.Gorgerin (Yodarekake) with four lacquered steps. En suite shoulder pads (sode).
Two-part nimai-dô-type breastplate, made of iron strips assembled in rows, covered with lacquered leather.
Handle (Kote) in silk, covered with ribbed mesh, hand protectors (tekkô) in iron embellished with a mon.
Kusazuri with five lacquered and assembled strips of blue silk.
Haidate in mesh-coated fabric.
Leggings (Suneate) in fabric and lacquered strips.
Lacquered wooden carrying case with my.
Overall good condition; small lacquer loss on the kabuto (not serious).
