Cast steel, tempered with rapeseed oil and blue annealed on a sand bath.
Curved at the waist, the base has a flared shape; the breastplate is accentuated and the ridge of the backplate is pronounced.
Each of the two suspenders has a cowhide body, trimmed with two brass chains; the body is finished with a brass button plate with a leather tip; the suspender holder is brass with 3 rivets.
Brown leather belt with brass buckle.
The breastplate is marked "Manufacture d'armes Impériale de Châtellerault 1860, 1è largeur N° 1064". The backplate is marked "Manufacture d'armes Impériale de Châtellerault 18?8, largeur 221 catra".
The cuirass is accompanied by a reissued cuirass vest.
