A ceremonial shield in the form of a domed shield in cast iron modeled after that of Henri II of France. Its decoration in relief represents the victory of Hannibal and the Carthaginians over the Romans at Cannae in 216 BC.
The circumference is decorated with a ribbon band, pearl stripes, medallion friezes, trophies of arms and foliage. In the upper center, the head of the goddess Diana, on the lower part, a man's head.
