Gilded with gold leaf.
Maison Goupil & Cie was an art publishing and trading company founded in 1827 by Henry Rittner and renamed Goupil & Cie in 1829. Based in Paris, it played a major role in the 19th-century art market. The company was known for its reproductions of works of art, prints, and engravings, as well as for the sale of original paintings and framing.
