Witch mirror of Empire style, provided with a round glass mercurized and convex with deforming effect.
The latter is positioned in a gilded frame with a hollowed part, decorated with protruding balls arranged at regular intervals.
This frame is topped by a generous pediment featuring an eagle, wings spread and head turned in a haughty bearing. It stands above a rich decoration of laurel leaves and scrolls.
The lower part of this astonishing mirror is also carved with volutes, foliage and palmettes.
Its curved glass allows a different diffusion of light than other more common models, and a larger viewing angle. This is why - historical parenthesis - this accessory was formerly called 'Third Eye', since it allowed the bankers and the merchants to supervise all their offices or their stores. Witches' mirrors were also believed to have magical properties, hence their names.
With its unusual shape and brightness, this mirror will match a refined and unique interior.
