Octagonal in shape, this mirror is encased in an impressive gilded wood frame from the Louis XIV period. One recognizes the vocabulary of opulent acanthus leaves, of the display of objects in the style of trophies, typical of this era. This mirror is therefore no exception to 17th century taste. Nevertheless, its Italian origin can be discerned in the movement and the volume, which is more lively and less hieratic than that which permeated French art at the same time. This 17th century gilded mirror is in very good condition.
