Large Louis XV-style mirror – Polychrome and gilded Rocaille decoration
An elegant and imposing Louis XV-style mirror, featuring a dynamic frame with rich Rocaille decoration.
The frame, in an ivory hue accented with gilding and touches of green and pink, is enlivened by volutes, foliage, shells, and small flowers.
The upper section is crowned by an imposing, asymmetrical Rocaille motif that is particularly decorative.
The generously sized mirror glass follows the scalloped lines of the frame.
The substantial carved consoles at the lower corners lend the piece a commanding presence and allow for a stable placement.
It features a beautiful antique patina, with signs of wear, minor imperfections, and visible restorations on the decoration—all intentionally preserved and contributing to the piece’s charm.
A highly decorative mirror, ideal above a fireplace, on a console table, or simply placed in an entryway or living room.
