Overmantel mirror in carved wood, lacquered in gray-beige and gilded with gold leaf.

An elegant piece from the late Louis XVI period (18th century, circa 1780-90), our overmantel mirror is decorated with a trophy composed of an antique vase surrounded by ribbons, acanthus leaves, and laurel wreaths. The mirror is framed in carved and gilded wood with a motif of water leaves and pearls.

Original gold leaf gilding, two-part, shimmering mercury glass, also from the 18th century.

A highly decorative and spectacular piece; the carving is rich and finely executed. Our large mirror is tall but narrow, making it versatile: it can be placed on a mantelpiece, on a piece of furniture, or between two windows.

The entire piece is in excellent condition. The gilding has been cleaned by our gilder.
