A work from this series, dated 71, was purchased by the state in 1981. Jean Villeri belongs to the non-figurative movement of the New School of Paris. He joined the Abstraction Creation movement in 1934 and was supported by the poet René Char. Exhibitions followed at Galerie Maeght, Creuze, Legendre, Blumenthal, and Apollinaire in Milan. He also participated in the major Parisian salons, Réalités Nouvelles and the Salon de Mai.
