Maurice-Elie Sarthou is one of the major representatives of the New School of Paris of the 1950s. He draws his inspiration and sensitivity from the landscapes around him. He captures watercolor sketches on the spot, memoranda that he transcribes in his studio. He places natural elements at the center of his work in strong, structured layouts.
