Guiramand entered the Paris Fine Arts School in 1943, studying under Maurice Brianchon, himself a pupil of Bonnard. In 1952, he won the Prix de Rome, which earned him a stay at the Villa Medicis. In 1957, he was awarded the Marlborough Prize, as well as the Menton Biennial Prize for our painting.
This oil on canvas, dated 60 and titled matin sur le tibre, measuring 130x98cm, was exhibited at the Musée Galliera and won a prize at the Menton Biennale. It is reproduced as a double-page spread in Pierre Cabanne's monograph on the artist. It is also reproduced at the head of the biography in Lydia Harambourg's indispensable dictionnaire de l'école de Paris.
Beautiful flat tints, skilfully orchestrated colors, a very free style that takes advantage of the abstract experience, poetry, the pleasure of painting is certainly there. Thank you, Mr. Guiramand!
A masterpiece perfectly displayed in its Spanish Baroque setting.
A rare and exceptional work that I'm delighted to offer you.
