OIL ON CANVAS 60X80Cm DATE 64.
Because of his abstract expressionist style, Van Soest's early works have often been referred to as post-Cobra, a term the artist himself did not support.

Pierre van Soest was born in Venlo on October 14, 1930, and moved to Amsterdam in 1947. He attended the Royal Academy of Visual Arts in Amsterdam and was awarded the Royal Scholarship for Painting Arts in 1953 and 1954. He taught at Atelier 63 in Haarlem from 1965 to 1966 and from 1969 to 1971, and later at the Royal Academy of Arts and Design in Bois-le-Duc from 1972 to 1987. He worked extensively in the field of monumental art, mural painting and the design of concrete reliefs for public and private buildings in the Netherlands. Pierre van Soest passed away in January 2001.
Van Soest's work is represented in several public collections, including:
Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam , Collection Sandberg , national collection ( National Cultural Heritage Agency ), Curaçao's Museum Willemstad, Collection de la municipalité de Heerlen, Banque de Paris et des Pays-Bas Amsterdam, ABN-Amro Bank Amsterdam, Nationale Nederlanden, Museum of Modern Art Buenos Aires, ING Bank Amsterdam, Bonnefantenmuseum Maastricht, Museum van Bommel van Dam Venlo, AMC Amsterdam, Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen Rotterdam, Centraal Beheer Apeldoorn, ABP Heerlen, Bouwfonds Nederlandse Gemeenten, Gasunie Groningen and national and foreign private collections.
