Charles trunk
Born in Douai- 1935
Painter of genre, landscapes, Parisian and Norman views
He studied in the north and then entered the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts et Industries Textiles in Roubaix.
Charles graduated brilliantly four years later, having obtained the first prizes in all subjects.
He did his military service in Algeria as an officer in a marching battalion in the djebels then began a career as a teacher in high schools and colleges in Roubaix, Douai and Valenciennes.
But his interest in the history of art, in particular the Romanesque period, his passion for antiques and his taste for the Haute Epoque, made him abandon a career in teaching to devote himself to the antique furniture trade.
He opened a restoration workshop in Roubaix and traveled through France, Spain and Portugal following the pilgrimage routes to admire Roman remains and find furniture and objects that he sold to merchants in his region.
He will continue to paint, tirelessly, many views of Paris, but also of Normandy. And will find several galleries in Paris to exhibit it.
