Large pastel of a river landscape with characters in a mountain setting .

This pastel seems to come straight out of a fantasy film set, with tiny characters facing a powerful and beautiful nature. It is signed lower left and dated 1869.

The modernism of this pastel for its time would perhaps require a more contemporary setting.
