Born in Mulhouse and died in Paris in 1927, Gagliardini had Soulary and Cogniet as masters.
From 1869 to 1880, he sent to the Paris Salon, portraits and some subjects of historical genre and he obtained several awards including the gold medal of the Universal Exhibition of 1900.
He abandoned the historical genre to devote himself to landscape, specializing in the painting of picturesque sites in the south of France.
Several of his works can be found in museums and in particular in the Louvre, as well as in the museums of Montpellier, Mulhouse, Reims and Tourcoing.
