OIL ON CANVAS 81X65CM CIRCA50. ROAD TO BAUX DE PROVENCE

he worked from 1936 to 1944, at night at the PTT to be able to paint during the day. Carrying out his first exhibitions in the Rouen region around 1945,
he moved to Paris in 1951 and quickly exhibited in galleries: Visconti, Charpentier, Drouant and subsequently Findlay.
His first major achievement was the design of the costumes and sets for L'Ange gris, a ballet by Claude Debussy for the Marquis de Cuevas in 1953
That same year, he was awarded the Casa de Velázquez in Madrid. He was appointed official painter of the navy in 1973.

A distinguished designer, Gaston Sebire brushes vast compositions, in a range of distinguished grays, which make him understood in the neo-realist movement which followed the death of Francis Gruber. Here he gives us a landscape of Provence of great distinction of very luminous. A serene painting.
