Here's an oil on wood panel by Chevalier, a Barbizon scene painted on a wood panel. The sky and vegetation are beautifully rendered. It dates from 1878, the Napoleon III era.
I think it's by Henri Chevalier (1808-1893).
The frame is in natural wood, and goes perfectly with the work. It is in acceptable condition, with minor traces of wear and rubbing, and a blackened corner.
The work has not been cleaned or restored. There are a few traces of wear and scratches.
