Painting on canvas signed Jean Emile Vallet (1834-1899) representing a landscaped rural scene. The artist, who exhibited at the salon between 1857 and 1880, illustrates here a hamlet consisting of a church surrounded by small houses. Three women dressed in identical outfits are painted and complete this scene from the old days. The trees and woodwork indicate the start of the fall season.
This unique work features the artist's signature on the lower left.
Surrounding the canvas, a large frame in perfect condition, scalloped, in wood gilded with gold leaf, perfectly matches this pastoral scene. Rich in ornamentation, it presents stylized moldings and sculptures forming arabesques.
