27 cm x 35 cm (32 x 40.5 cm with frame)
Nice old gilded wood stick
Very good condition

An important part of the works by Marseille painter Alexandre Brun was acquired by the Musée National de la Marine in 2002, enabling us to rediscover this academic painter who was a great sailor painter. He was awarded the bronze medal in the Marine section at the 1889 Universal Exhibition.
His paintings have a rare quality of realism and a fine mastery of color, as in the magnificent "Le lancement du Hoche à Lorient en 1886" (Musée National de la Marine).
Our painting depicts a ship aground. Well-composed, it shows in particular a beautiful light and a very fine rendering of the sea.
