    This large watercolor, enhanced with gouache, appears to depict a Mediterranean port. It is bustling with numerous boats, sailing around anchored buildings with their sails furled. On the right, a steamer and a felucca are crossing the harbor. On the other side, several rowers aboard a rowboat are carrying a person sitting under a shelter at the stern. The hilly landscape surrounding the port and buildings reminds me of the Bosphorus, but I'm not sure. It is framed by a marie-louise bearing the name J.F. Varre, a name for which we have found no information. A slight alteration of the watercolor, one centimeter wide, on the right edge should be noted, and the upper left corner has a crease.
