This oil on canvas was painted in the 1930s and depicts a careening dock, probably the one in Marseille.
It bears a signature; we can read Denys H. or Lenys H.; the handwriting is unclear. We haven't found any information that matches the signature, so we're still open to further investigation.
We can see a steam tugboat at the dock, various fishing boats in the foreground and background, a stone dike, and the open sea in the background.
The technique is very interesting and masterful; it's undoubtedly the work of an established artist.
You will notice an old tension band, some minor rubbing and wear, however, the work remains largely presentable.
Sold uncleaned and unrestored.
