Characters making a fire in the moonlight
Oil on canvas
ROSIER Amédée
1831 - 1898.
French painter.
Painter of animated landscapes, landscapes, urban landscapes, seascapes.
Amédée Rosier is best known and sought after for his navies.
He has a classic touch which nevertheless makes his works very beautiful.
The primary quality of his paintings is light.
The painter wonderfully manages to convey the atmosphere of the end of days, when the rays of the sun brush the sea or even the intensity of moonlight.
These canvases are warm, and refer to the colors of the Italian and oriental landscapes where he lived and stayed, such as Venice or Egypt.
A pupil of L. Coigniet and Durand, he made his debut at the Paris Salon in 1857; he received a third class medal in 1876 and a bronze in 1889 (Exposition Universelle).
MUSEUMS: BERNAY: Saint-Georges-Majeur, in Venice, moon effect - COMPIEGNE: N-D of Paris at sunset - MULHOUSE: Le Soir à Venise - NIORT: Les Bords du Nile - SAINT-ETIENNE: Beach.
