Port of Algiers painted by Albert Lebourg, oil on canvas mounted on wood, signed lower right.
Albert Lebourg (1849–1928) was a French Impressionist and Post-Impressionist painter, best known for his luminous landscapes and scenes of the Seine, ports, and rivers, in the tradition of the Rouen School.
In 1872, he moved to Algiers as a drawing teacher (at the Algiers School of Fine Arts). There, he produced numerous Orientalist works.
He exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français and then at the Salon de la Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts.
His works are exhibited at the Musée d'Orsay, the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Rouen, and in numerous public and private collections.
