A bouquet of flowers in a pot in front of a drapery decorated with red foliage, a Japanese atmosphere, bright, fresh colors in the style of the Paris School, Renée Seilhean (1897-1990) was a painter from Bordeaux known for her portraits of women and still lifes of bouquets of flowers. She studied at the École des Beaux-Arts de Bordeaux under François-Maurice Roganeau, then continued her training inParis (until 1940), notably at the Académie Ranson, the Beaux-Arts fresco workshop, and the Scandinavian Academy. From 1923, she exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français, where she became an associate member, and was awarded the silver medal in 1926, ranked hors concours. A square in Bordeaux bears her name.
