Jules-Émile ZINGG (1882 - 1942)
After a year at the School of Fine Arts in Besançon, he received a travel grant from his hometown. Admitted to the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris in Fernand Cormon's studio, he stood out there. He was subsequently awarded the second Prix de Rome in 1911. He first exhibited landscapes, his favorite subject at the Salon des Artistes Français, then at the Indépendants, at the Salon d'Automne and then at the Tuileries.
In 1918, he exhibited at the Galerie Druet in Paris, where he met Maurice Denis and Paul Sérusier in Perros-Guirrec.
