Yvonne Mariotte receives a scholarship for Casa Velasquez, the Spanish equivalent of Villa Abd-el-Tif, located in Madrid. She traveled to Morocco in 1936. It is from this trip that she brought this scene back.
For her painting "Market Scene in Fez" which is presented at the Quai Branly Museum, she will receive the Grand Prix National des Arts.
