This an interesting pair of 17th-century paintings that fit perfectly into the catalog of numerous small paintings from the Dutch Golden Age, and more particularly from the excellent painter Adriaen de Gryef.

Two beautiful scenes of hunting returns, very colorful and animated with characters, hunting dogs, and hunting game.

Fine Dutch oil-on-canvas paintings from the late 17th century, circa 1680, framed in black lacquered wood. One of the pair is signed.

Biography:

Adrian de Gryef (Antwerp 1670 - Brussels after 1722) was a painter of the Flemish school.

A painter of landscapes and still lifes, Adrian de Gryef was probably a pupil of Frans Snyders.

He married in Antwerp in 1689.

By 1690, he was in Brussels, returning to Antwerp in 1694.

He is listed as a master in Brussels in 1699.

He painted many small pictures with picturesque subjects featuring animals in open-air landscapes embellished with trees and flowers, most often lit by setting suns.
