Oil on canvas by Jean-Gabriel Domergue (1889-1962), titled on the back in the artist's hand "Dans la prairie verte" ("In the green meadow").
The work depicts an elegant woman in a hat, naked in the grass, with a large black and white long-haired greyhound on her left side, a reminder of her headdress.
Between 1940 and 1945, Jean-Gabriel Domergue produced a series of works depicting nude elegants in meadows.
The greyhound, an animal whose curves the artist admired, soon became the only breed of dog Domergue painted. The greyhound can be found on a wide range of themes, from nudes in the meadows to the carnival in Venice and Parisian social evenings.
The painting is in very good condition.
