    Description :
    Frame and painted canvas.

This very particular and unique painting is inspired by the fables of Fontaine, we will recognize several fables.
As for the architectural follies for example, a single scene with a dreamlike atmosphere links the fables of the Fountain in a single world.
Moreover, the rather allegorical work would not fit into a classical artistic pictorial work.
So this heterodox work could very well have been made to participate in the very particular decoration of the rooms of a madness, one will think of the Desert of Retz.
The old frame of the XVIIIth or the very beginning of the XIXth can make think of an exceptional panel of woodwork with topic, located in a madness, or a factory for example.

One will also think of the very rich work that Gustave Moreau did to illustrate the fables of the Fountain, first the preparatory watercolors then the engravings that we know.
Few illustrators have enriched a literary monument of the magnitude of La Fontaine's fables in such a fusion.
Although very different, our painting also creates a "real" view of the fables.
