Henry BACON (1839-1912). American painter born in Haverhill, Massachusetts. One of the first American painters to be admitted to the School of Fine Arts in Paris. He traveled a lot between France, London, Boston, Egypt... he discovered Pont-Aven in 1864. From 1880, he devoted himself to maritime scenes. And when he passed on the Normandy coast in 1884 (he painted the beaches of Etretat in 1880). He stops at Gonneville la Mallet (between Fécamp and Le Havre) in the establishment run by Madame and Monsieur Aubourg, owners of the Hostelerie des Vieux Dishes.
