"Berthe Morris By Rosalie Thévenin"

Portrait of a young girl Oil on canvas Dedicated to his girlfriend Berthe Morris, signed and dated 1890 at the top 46 x 38 cm (excluding frame) Marie-Anne Reine Thévenin is the daughter of Thomas Thévenin, goldsmith, and Jeanne Françoise Ferrier.

She was a student of Léon Cogniet and J. Paris, and exhibited at the Salon from 1842 until 1892. She won a bronze medal in 1849, in 1859 then in 1861.

On April 27, 1865, she remained single while his sister Catherine-Caroline Cogniet married Léon Cogniet in Paris. Marie-Anne Rosalie Thévenin died on February 15, 1892 in Paris, at her home on Boulevard de Magenta at the age of 72, just a few hours after the death of her sister.
