Biography:

 

Julien Michel Gué, a 19th-century French painter, was born in 1789 in Saint-Dominique and died in 1843 in Paris. A versatile artist, he excelled in historical painting, religious subjects, genre scenes, portraits, and landscapes.

 

A student of Jacques-Louis David and later Pierre Lacour, he exhibited at the Paris Salon from 1819 until his death, receiving medals in 1828 and 1831. He was made a Knight of the Legion of Honor in 1834.

Chapelle de Dreux: Jesus before Caiaphas and The Holy Women at the Tomb of Christ (completed by his nephew Jean-Marie Oscar Gué).
