Large nude of a sleeping woman, oil on canvas signed lower left, beautiful rendering of skin tone, thick, nervous brushstrokes in warm tones.
Renowned pupil: studied with Jean-Paul Laurens, Léon Bonnat, then at the Académie Julian. He is often described as a naturalist or post-impressionist painter, with a keen eye for light, textures and moments of everyday life.

Present in museums:Jeune fille aux bas de soie (1927), oil on canvas (72.7 × 61.7 cm), acquired by the French State in 1931 (Musée national d'art moderne).Méditerranée (circa 1944), monumental oil on canvas (105 × 130 cm), also acquired by the French State in 1946, Jeune fille aux bas de soie and Méditerranée are now at the Centre Pompidou, underlining his national recognition.
