Oil on panel representing an interior scene of the church of Trier by the Dutch painter Johannes Bosboom around 1870.
He initially produced theater sets and city views in the studio of B. J. Van Hove. He will bring back drawings from his travels (in Belgium, France and Germany). He was famous for his scenes of church interiors painted in the Dutch tradition. These are the churches of The Hague, Trier, Amsterdam. The works of J. Bosboom are kept in many international museums (in France at the Musée d'Orsay "Le choir de la Grote Kerke").
The Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam has a composition very close to our work, produced around 1870-1880 in a more impressionistic vein.
Our work is signed lower right J. Bosboom.
Dimensions of the panel: 34x 24.5 cm
