Oil on panel signed Honoré Hugrel, a painter from Mâcon who studied at the Ecole du Louvre. (1880-1944)
Hugrel's career took on a new dimension on the eve of the Second World War, when he was selected as one of the artists for the Exposition Internationale de Paris in 1937.
Hugrel also built his reputation through his efforts to restore the collections of the Musée des Beaux-Arts between 1928 and 1944.
