"Bouquet De Fleurs Par Claude Gaignoux 1924-2005"
Superb floral composition painted on canvas measuring 55cm x 38cm plus frame 72cm x 55cm
signed lower right GAIGNOUX
From his post-impressionist influence, Claude GAIGNOUX has always maintained an emergence of limpid colors, blurred into warm nuances that are sometimes enlivened by more incisive strokes in an atmosphere of harmony and passion. Claude GAIGNOUX, born in Le Havre on August 29, 1924, passed away in early October 2005. As a teenager, he studied music and played cello in quartets, until a serious illness turned him towards drawing and painting. This was followed by courses at the Beaux Arts du Havre with Gérard DESGRANGES as his teacher, before he took part in the Salon des peintres Ouvriers in 1952, then the U.A.P and the Salon des Artistes Havrais with Jacques HAMON. Thus began an artistic life and the creation of his "Atelier Saint-Michel", where his son Gilles, a specialist in antique clocks, works, surrounded by the constantly renewed works of his painter father. The Salons de la Marine, des "Françaises" d'Automne, de la Nationale des Beaux Arts, de l'Art Libre, Biennales, Galleries, official and private purchases both in France and abroad, awards and distinctions never prevented Claude GAIGNOUX from devoting himself to his "Atelier du jeudi" for children since 1964, nor from extolling his city of Le Havre, whose seductive charm he brought to the walls of the European Parliament in Strasbourg, which acquired this painting from him in 1992. He died in 2005.
