Large oil on canvas depicting a bouquet of lilacs in a vase, and a bouquet of pansies in a wicker basket.
Signed upper left FURCY de LAVAULT.
Thibule Marie FURCY de LAVAULT ( 1847-1915). A student of Savarin in Bordeaux, he began his career as a portraitist, but soon specialized as a painter of flowers. Curator of the La Rochelle museum in 1882, he also taught drawing and painting.
Present at numerous salons in the south of France, he exhibited at the Paris Salon from 1880 to 1891.
Numerous prizes and commendations.
