Jean Charles Nicolas Brachard, is the descendant of a modeler father at the Manufacture de Sèvres, Nicolas Brachard.
Jean Charles Nicolas Brachard worked at the Manufacture from 1782 to 1824, he is known for having produced bust portraits and medallion profiles of the imperial family and the royal family under the Restoration. He is also at the origin of The Egyptian, a bisque figure with a blue and gold basin (1806). This piece is part of the Egyptian especially and service. This set is fully in line with the taste for Egypt, it is produced in two copies during the First Empire.
Along with the Olympic service and the so-called Emperor service, it was one of the largest table sets produced in Sèvres at that time. The Egyptian service is the fruit of the collaboration between Dominique Vivant-Denon, director of the Napoleon Museum and author of the Voyage dans la Basse et la Haute Egypt during the campaigns of General Bonaparte (1802), who advised the artistic choices of the Manufacture and his director, Alexandre Brongniart, administrator from 1800 to 1847.
