Volkstedt porcelain figurine depicting a smiling monk holding a wine chalice and grapes. This model was created by Emil Paul Börner, one of the most versatile and productive artists at the Meissen porcelain factory in the 1920s, who went on to head the Meissen art departments. In the late 1960s, Volkstedt's oldest porcelain factory acquired several of the artist's figurines to add to its collection. He was convinced that his figurines were in good hands, among the best in the country. These figurines were highly elaborate, both in terms of production and painting. Produced in small quantities, they were considered collector's items. Blue Volkstedt factory mark and EB 118 intaglio mark for Emil Borner, as well as the model number. Height: 11cm Length: 9cm Width: 7cm
