This representation echoes the legends and symbols of Chinese culture, where the phoenix embodies virtue, prosperity, and renewal. The pavilions, gardens, pine trees, and mountains compose an idyllic landscape, imbued with poetry and refinement, characteristic of the finest 19th-century Canton porcelain.
The rim is richly decorated with reserves alternating flowers, birds, and landscapes, framed by a geometric frieze, typical of 19th-century Canton production. The quality of execution, the fineness of the details, and the harmony of the colors make it a first-rate decorative piece.
