Pair of vases (real pair) in pink opaline glass from the house of Baccarat, renowned for its fine glassware in the 19th century (circa 1860). The hand-painted decoration representing swallows and cherry blossoms, reflects an Asian (Japanese) influence, very fashionable in the French decorative arts of this period; the pink opaline color has a beautiful translucency and glossy finish, the hand-painted decoration displays fine and realistic details of the birds and branches; very high quality work, the elegant shape, the harmonious curve and the flared neck are typical of the Baccarat style. This is a model listed in old catalogs - period 1860
