Baluster-shaped vase from China, with polychrome decoration on an ivory ground.
The main scene depicts characters in traditional Asian dress: a woman holding a long ribbon, and a pair of young boys waving a spider under a cat's snout. A tree with red flowers and drooping leaves rises from the neck of this vase, fitted with two small openwork handles.
A succession of sinograms embellish the back of this porcelain.
The lips are highlighted by a golden fillet, and the seat is flat.
The lightness and innocence of the decorations and their bright colors, set off by a light background, are striking.
