A baluster-shaped porcelain vase with a blue glaze, enhanced with gilt decoration typical of Sèvres production. It has a gilt bronze mount in a Japonisme/Chinoise style, whose lines and originality remind me of Édouard Lièvre and the bronze sculptor Barbedienne. However, I believe this mounted vase was made for the Parisian merchant L'Escalier de Cristal* around 1880-1900.

In good original condition, the vase is slightly tilted.

The gilding is beautiful and shows little wear. Delivery available via Colissimo registered mail with insurance and signature required upon delivery:
    France €30
    Europe €55
    Other countries €75
*L’Escalier de Cristal, a long-established and renowned Parisian firm specializing in ceramics and glassware, but also offering furniture, art bronzes, and furnishings, was taken over from 1885 to 1923 by the sons of Emile Pannier, who formed Pannier Frères, located at the corner of Rue Scribe and Rue Auber, next to the new Opéra. Their Far Eastern-inspired creations were highly acclaimed by both the public and critics. The firm won numerous awards and medals at various exhibitions, including the gold medal at the 1900 Paris Universal Exposition. In the field of Far Eastern-influenced furniture, Majorelle de Nancy, Edouard Lièvre, and Gabriel Viardot also contributed to the success of the Pannier Frères. Some of their works are on display in major museums, such as the Hermitage in Saint Petersburg, the Musée d'Orsay, and the Corning Museum of Glass in New York. Because the company sometimes held exclusive ownership of the designs, its furniture and decorative objects were often signed only by L'Escalier de Cristal, occasionally alongside the artist's signature. The company also played a significant creative role by personalizing these pieces with superb gilded bronzes, cloisonné enamel plaques, and glass plaques with Japanese-inspired designs, or incorporating authentic Japanese elements.
