    Henri De Vains (1848 - 1886)

Originally from La Manche and a disciple of Antoine - Louis Barye (1795-1875) , H.R. de Vains was a great racing enthusiast , capturing his subjects on the spot by going directly to observe the horses on the racetracks or by watching them evolve at the within his property .

Emeritus horseman and great connoisseur of hippology , this aristocrat devoted most of his work to the equestrian world .
He is with Alfred de Dreux for the painting , one of the main representatives of the " Sporting Art " in the 19th century , and both do not hesitate to represent the horse alone , in equestrian competition or during hunts .
“ Trot Monté ” is his most famous work ; the mane in the wind and the suspended step reflect his passion for movement and speed .
