Twin sculptures "Tamers of horses" or "Marley horses"
The marble sculpture group was created in 1740-1745 by Guillaume Cousteau Sr. (Guillaume Coustou I, 1677-1746) - a famous French sculptor of the first half of the 18th century. Who worked on the decoration of the palaces and parks of Versailles, Marly, Tuileries and Trianon. The sculptures were commissioned by Louis XV in Carrara marble to decorate the terrace of the Château de Marly as a Parisian companion. Satisfied with the official tense images, the royal administration ordered the sculptors of young nudes to hold back the horses.
