Beautiful bronze with medal patina by Auguste Joseph Peiffer (1832-1886), French sculptor born in Paris, who mainly produced bronzes with allegorical and mythological subjects.
This work depicts Diana the goddess of the hunt, accompanied by her dog. They both look at each other. Seated, Diane wears a crown and a loose, light dress. She draws her bow in her left hand and her quiver is on her back.
This sculpture is finely executed. The lines are delicate and the details numerous.
The artist skillfully mixes femininity and strength
