Bronze with a golden patina by Friedrich Beer (1846-1912), Franco-Austrian sculptor, trained in the prestigious school of fine arts in Vienna.
The artist represents a long-haired student, with a purse on his belt. This young man, holding a book in his hand, is singing to beg.
This print rests on a swivel base. It is annotated in a cartouche "Escholier du XVe siècle", signed by the artist and bears the stamp of the foundry "Susse Frères Paris" on the terrace.
Through this bronze, Beer deals with the subject, still very current, of the pauperization of the student class. A profound work.
