Black patina bronze signed by sculptor Gregroi (19th century) and stamped Antique Bronzes 68.
This work represents the end of the very first of Hercules' twelve labors.
Although there is a version in which Hercules killed the beast with his own hands by suffocating it in his lair, Gregroi chose to depict Hercules standing, holding the remains of the Lion of Nemée in his left hand and the handle of his olive wood club in his right, which was broken during the killing of the animal.
The piece is presented on an Antique Black marble base.
Lovers of mythology will be captivated by this faithfully crafted bronze work.
