Symbolically, the name "Tindaro" refers to the figure of Tyndareos, King of Sparta and father of Helen of Troy, which places the work in the mythological tradition often present in the artist's work.

A miniature version of Mitoraj's monumental sculpture Tindaro, which sat at La Défense in Paris and recently sold at auction at Polswiss Art Auction House in Warsaw for a record 1.6 million euros.
Inspired by ancient statuary, Igor Mitoraj sculpts broken or cut fragments of busts, faces and body parts.
