Carl Binder (born in 1881 in Brienz, Switzerland) was a sculptor from a region renowned for its woodworking. Trained in this tradition-rich environment, he developed a sensitive figurative style, centered on movement, expressive poses, and the finesse of modeling. Active at the beginning of the 20th century, he worked in both wood and bronze, creating female figures, dancers, and emotionally charged compositions. He spent most of his life in Brienz. Sources differ on the date of his death, generally placed between 1951 and 1964, a common variation for regional artists whose documentation is incomplete.
